I'm pleased to have Robin guest posting today! She's a crafty lil' diva and has an awesome blog, From the Blue Shed. Today she's going to show us how to give new life to old frames. I am so excited about this project because I have SO many frames that I'm not using laying around collecting dust.

Giving new life to old frames

I am so excited to be guest posting, for the first time ever, here at Dealusional. The deeper I dive into this world of blogging, the more like minded bloggers I find sharing frugal yet stylish, inexpensive yet quality products and ideas.
Like Amy, I love the thrill of finding a bargain. I love to make things by hand, for the joy it brings me and the inexpensive ways I find to create them.
In the name of all things thrifty, I want to share a little rescue and DIY project giving a few old frames a new life.
Materials
~frames ~materials to embellish frames ~hot glue gun ~spray paint ~sand paper ~small paint brush ~card board box (optional)

Collect frames of different shapes and sizes.

Find bits and pieces that will give your frame an interesting pattern or texture. I love organic and industrial textures mixed together. I am using old chain, wood beads and shells.

1. Lightly sand all frames so the paint has a clean surface to adhere to.
2. I gave each frame a light spray of paint before I started gluing. This will make getting the paint into the grooves easier later on.

3. Decide how you will lay your pieces on to the frame before you start gluing. Once the glue gun is hot you need to just go for it! Hot glue is very forgiving though. If you have put something in the wrong place, let it dry, pull it off and start again.
4. Once all the pieces are glued to the frame, take the time to remove any strands of glue there may be. The strands will really stand out once the frames have been painted.
5.Place the frames inside the card board box and spray with your chosen paint. After the first coat, spray the tip of the small paint brush and paint any nooks and crannies the spray can missed. Once dry, Give each frame a final coat.

I think having a group of frames of all different styles, but of one uniform color is a really nice look.

Total project cost - $9. I love that!
Thank you so much Amy for asking me to share my little project with your readers. This is a great blog, with so many deals to be found. Keep up the fantastic work. I donʼt know how you find the time to do all of the shopping for us as well!
